‚ÄčMUARA, Thursday 24 December 2020 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) marked another significant milestone with the launching of three (3) newly acquired Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) namely NAVSAG-01, NAVSAG-02 and NAVSAG-03 at the Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG) Hangar, RBN base.

Present to officiate the launching of RIBs as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy. Also present to witness the ceremony were the Fleet Commander as well as senior officers from the RBN.

The ceremony was initiated with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Ustaz Mas Ismandi bin Hassan. This was followed by the launching of one of the RIBs and Azan was chanted by the Religious Teacher of RBN followed by a group photo session with the officers and crew of NAVSAG.

During the ceremony, The Commanding Officer of NAVSAG, Lieutenant Mohammad Nasdi bin Haji Abdul Hamit, RBN, presented the audience with a short brief in which he emphasized on how the newly procured assets will boost the operational readiness of RBN.

The 10-meter RIBs were constructed by Asis Shipbuilders based in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and is propelled by twin outboard engine with 250 horsepower, capable of proceeding at maximum speed of 40 knots. The boat has a full complement of 12 crew members and are equipped with a navigation system and advancement of SONAR capability and is able to operate in the vicinity of riverine and coastal areas.

The new advancements are another new stepping stone in force capabilities for RBN in order to be more efficient in carrying its roles and responsibilities towards protecting our nation's sovereignty.

Upon completion, the ceremony ends with a boat maneuverability demonstration around the waters in the vicinity of RBN base participated by the Commander of RBN as well the Executives Board of RBN.
