MUARA, Wednesday, 22 January 2020 - Mr. Greg Moriarty, Australia's Secretary of Defence made a working visit to the Royal Brunei Navy and engaged in bilateral discussion with First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy during his one-day visit to the Sultanate.
Accompanying the Secretary of Defence was Her Excellency Nicola Rosenblum, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam and Lieutenant Colonel Dan Hauser, Assistant Defence Adviser to Brunei, Australian Defence Force.
During the meeting , both sides reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between both countries in the defence sector. Both sides also expressed satisfaction at the positive development of bilateral relations between Royal Brunei Navy and Royal Australian Navy on various areas of engagement on both bilateral and multilateral platforms such as the ASEAN Defence Minister's Meeting (ADMM) Plus, Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS), Exercise KAKADU and Exercise PENGUIN.
Both sides exchanged perspectives on contemporary regional issues and prospective initiatives for any upcoming bilateral and multilateral naval exercises. Also highlighted during the meeting was the ongoing information sharing platform between RBN and RAN on PV80.
The working visit concluded with a ship visit onboard KDB DARUSSALAM.
