MUARA, Tuesday, 7 January 2020 - The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, received an introductory call at the Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters from Colonel Sanjeev Vijaykumar Sarma, Defence Adviser of High Commission of India, Malaysia accredited to Brunei Darussalam.
During the introductory call, both sides reaffirmed commitment in further strengthening defence ties between Royal Brunei Navy and Indian Navy. The bilateral partnership between Royal Brunei Navy and Indian Navy have flourished through various interactions such as multilateral exercises (ADMM-Plus and Exercise MILAN), port visits and other international defence events such as the Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS). Both sides have also expressed satisfaction on the bilateral ties between Brunei and the Republic of India, where both countries have continue to share friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1984. Also discussed during the call was the upcoming multilateral exercise MILAN that will be held in March 2020 in Visakhapatnam, India.
Colonel Sanjeev Vijaykumar Sarma was appointed as the Republic of India's Defence Adviser accredited to Brunei Darussalam in October 2019 last year.
