SAINT PETERSBURG, RUSSIA, Tuesday, 30 July 2019 - The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman Bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, attended the Russian Navy Day and Main Naval Parade in Saint Petersburg, Russia.  

The event was officiated by His Excellency President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and was attended by 27 other Chiefs of Navies. The event showcased a naval parade in the Neva River with the participation of 43 warships as well as submarines and more than 31 military aircrafts. 

During the visit that ran from 27 to 30 July 2019, Commander of RBN had the opportunity to pay a courtesy call to the Commander-In-Chief of the Russian Navy (RN) Admiral Nikolay Yevmenov, whereby the Commander of RBN expressed his gratitude to the Commander-In-Chief of RN for the invitation, and the growing naval ties between RBN and RN. Both sides reiterated their mutual commitment to strengthen their naval relations and to further enhance interactions in areas of mutual interest through various bilateral and multilateral platforms. 

As part of the Commander of RBN’s visit program, a tour of the Russian Baltic Fleet STEREGUSHCHIY was conducted where Commander of RBN was received by the Commanding Officer of STEREGUSHCHIY Captain Yuri Somov.
