RBN PERSONNEL EMBRACES ISLAM

TUTONG, Friday, 10 May 2019 – A personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), 51977 Ordinary Rate (OD) Edi Jul Hanipah bin Jefry, RBN recited his Islamic oath at his grandfather’s residence in Kampong Sungai Damit, Mukim Ukong, Tutong today.

Present at the ceremony as the guest of honour was Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

Also present were First Admiral Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili, Commander of RBN; Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Member of the Legislative Council; Awang Haji Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer; and officers from the RBAF and the Islamic Da'wah Centre.

The ceremony began with the recital of verses from Al-Qur'an and the declaration of Syahadah (declaration of faith) led by an officer from the Islamic Da'wah Centre.

The Dikir Marhaban, as well as the sprinkling of bunga rampai and gifts were presented by the guest of honour and invited guests to the new brother in Islam.

OD Edi Jul Hanipah bin Jefry, RBN, now known as OD Muhammad Edi Jul Hanipah bin Jefry, is the second RBAF personnel to convert to Islam this year and the 116th since 2006.
